Are they all Club La Costa competitors?
In some shape or form, yes.
But the industry is growing rapidly as more and more people learn about the value and benefits of holiday membership.
Penetration levels in the UK and Europe are surprisingly low but growing significantly. In America, South Africa and New Zealand there are very high levels of holiday (or condominium) membership.

So on the one hand there's plenty of opportunity for all but then again there are realistically only a few specialist resort developers, such as Club La Costa, that offer not only a variety of destinations, but also real value and a very well maintained and managed product.
In addition some hotel groups migrated into holiday membership rather than it being their core business - and are still quite evidently finding their way.
Other independent operators either don't want to reinvest or haven't managed to create the scale of business to have specialists run each division of their operation: resort management, food and beverage, travel, club operations, reservations, product development, training, human resources, management, sales, marketing and so on.
