The Costa del Sol is expected to buck the negative trend for numbers of holidaying Brits, compared to other parts of Spain, in 2009. That's the view of various tour operators and was voiced at the 2008 World Travel Market.
We pride ourselves on choice family holidays with excellent accommodation, service and facilities, so our resorts here are always in demand

And the reason for such confidence? Martin Brackenbury, the President of the International Federation of Tour Operators believes it lies in the region's development of emerging holiday industry trends such as golf travel, health and wellness tourism, city breaks and weekend getaways.
The result could be more, not less, direct flights to Malaga for the holiday season 2009, in spite of the recession, according to airline representatives.
Aer Lingus has said it would increase seat availability from Dublin, Cork and Belfast by 10 per cent, reaching 500,000, and may even open new routes. Monarch Airlines has announced flexibility in response to demand; with extra flights to Malaga added from those airports where they operate if market trends dictate.
Club La Costa Resorts & Hotels expects more than 100,000 visitors to its Costa del Sol resorts in 2009. "The coast here is always popular because there is so much on offer for our members both on resort and off," said Guy Mantel, Director Club Operations & Travel.
"We pride ourselves on choice family holidays with excellent accommodation, service and facilities, so our resorts here are always in demand. The resorts are also superbly placed to make the very best of what's on offer along the coast and that includes fantastic golfing, dining and leisure opportunities.
"Club La Costa Travel obtains best flights on the day for our members, so we welcome the possibility of more choice from companies such as Monarch with whom we do substantial business."
Club La Costa Travel is a fully bonded travel agency which last year arranged more than 16,000 flights for Brits travelling to the Costa del Sol.
