When Tenerife's awe-inspiring Siam Park finally opens its magnificent gates - and it's on course for May - the Canary Island will reveal a new world to tourists.
Siam Park, Tenerife
Siam Park, on 185,000m2, recreates a Thai village and has some of the biggest, highest, longest - and arguably most thrilling - attractions to be found in Europe, and in some cases the world! Surrounded by sub-tropical vegetation, the park is designed to be as close to an authentic oriental setting as possible.
In addition to at least 14 major water attractions, five bars and restaurants, the park will house sea lions and other animals, a floating market and an oriental tea house. Bound to capture the imagination are the Wave Palace, where visitors can splash in the shallows, learn to surf or even ride monster waves; the Lost City, a huge children's adventure world, and adrenaline-pumping rides with names such as the Jungle Snake, Volcano, Mekong Rapids and Dragon.
And best of all for Club La Costa Resorts & Hotels, which has more than 50,000 members, the theme park is literally on the doorstep of two of its 22 resorts: Club La Costa Monterey and Club La Costa Monterey Royale. Tickets will be available at these and also at Club La Costa's two other resorts on the island, Club La Costa Paradise and Sunningdale Village.
"For many years, visitors have flocked to the world-famous Loro Parque, but with the opening of Siam Park, which is eagerly anticipated by locals and tourists alike, the island will have two world-class theme park attractions," said Club La Costa Standards Controller Daniel Li.
Club La Costa resorts cater primarily for families and demand for these already popular resorts, given their position next door to the new park, can only increase. Siam Park could soon be on every child's holiday wish list - and many adults' too.
